Academic Life in Emergency Medicine (ALiEM) is a digital education organization. Our team strives to reshape health professions education and academia in their evolution away from the traditional classroom. We publish quality educational resources used for lifelong learning and clinical care on our blog. We also successfully pioneered virtual communities of practices for chief residents, fellows, and educator-scholars with our Incubator model. Our partners have included professional societies such as ABEM, SAEM, CORD, EMRA, ACEP.

Post It Pearls Educator

Post It Pearls Educator

Teaching at the bedside in the emergency department can scale beyond the individual learner. Sharing the learning points via post it note doodles benefits others on shift as well as in the Instagram medical community via the hashtag #PostItPearls, which I created in 2017. Check out my Post It Pearls at @MichelleLinMD.

Event and Expedition Medicine

Emergency medicine skills are universally helpful outside of the emergency department. I serve as a clinic physician for San Francisco's Oracle Park and Chase Center. I also serve as an expedition ship physician for Lindblad and Quark Expeditions.

Editor, EBSCO Health DynaMed

I serve as an Emergency Medicine Editor the evidence-based, point-of-care website, DynaMed.

What I'm Learning About

Google Data Studio software

This open-access, data visualization software centralizes and displays data in a customizable dashboard.

Google Analytics 4

This most recent version of Google's open-access analytic software allows for easier monitoring of custom outcome measures for websites.

Coffee bean roasting

Roasting coffee beans requires understanding the nuances of each roasting stage and personality of each coffee bean's origin. This hobby fuels my addiction to coffee.

Modern leadership models

The traditional hierarchical, permission-based leadership structure for teams and organizations is inefficient and slow. In this new attention economy and freelance era, how to recruit and retain talented colleagues is more about building trust, creating autonomous teams, and a meritocracy. "Innovation moves at the speed of trust." - author Stephen Covey.
